An image-to-PDF conversion places image data on PDF pages; it does not turn text inside a photograph into selectable text. OCR is a separate operation. Decide whether you need a visual archive, a printable document or searchable text before choosing the workflow.
Supported input behavior
The current Pdfona image engine embeds JPEG and PNG directly. WebP, GIF and BMP files are first drawn to a browser canvas and embedded as PNG. A file that cannot be decoded is skipped, so the page count in the output must be checked.
Page size, orientation and margins
Automatic size creates each page from the image dimensions plus the selected margin. A4 uses fixed page dimensions; landscape swaps width and height. The image is centered and scaled to the available area while its aspect ratio is preserved. Depending on the source dimensions and selected page, it may be scaled up or down.
Order multiple images
Open JPG to PDF, add images in the intended reading order and review their filenames or previews. Each successfully decoded image becomes one page. Sort before conversion because the PDF follows the supplied file order.

- Remove duplicates and unintended screenshots.
- Choose one orientation for a consistent document.
Quality and file size
Embedding a JPEG usually keeps its compressed image data, while canvas conversion to PNG can change file size. A4 placement changes display dimensions but is not a promise of higher resolution. Small source images may appear soft when enlarged, and large images can make the PDF large.
Verify before sharing
Open the downloaded PDF and compare its page count with the number of accepted images. Inspect orientation, margins, cropping and the order of the first and last pages. Zoom in on text inside images and print a sample page when print dimensions matter.
